Using Discount Codes to Reduce your Supermarket Shopping Bill

Many of us are finding ourselves turning to the internet as a way of doing our weekly shopping. It’s a brilliant way of avoiding the pitfalls of buying things on impulse that we don’t really need, and it also saves the hassle of the weekly trawl around the shop often having to drag the kids with us and deal with their cries of ‘I want’, ‘can I have’ and ‘but mummy pleeeease’.

Having established that internet shopping can save us money and hassle in this way, one thing many people are missing out on still is using discount codes to save them further money on their purchases.
Internet discount codes work by offering you a discount or something extra when you do your shopping. It could be £5 off when you spend £50 or 10% off when you spend over £40, free delivery or a free product when you buy another product. In fact, they work in much the same way as the coupons your grandmother clipped from the newspaper and took with her to the store.

There are different ways to get these discount codes. Some are sent in the post – Tesco for example send out Clubcard statements to members and often include a voucher which has a code on it for money off an internet shop – one I received recently offered £7.50 off when you spent £50 on your first internet shop with them. Tesco also offer Tesco vouchers for online grocers shopping so watch out for them too.

Other discount codes are sent in e-mails to people as a thank you for filling in a survey, or on joining to receive an e-mailed newsletter. As well as this many codes can be found on discount code websites which are sent these codes by the supermarkets like Tesco and then share them with you. By making sure you search for these codes and use them when you do your weekly shopping you can make additional savings on a fairly regular basis.

It’s still best not to make purchases you don’t need, but if you can only find a coupon for money off when you spend x amount, it can sometimes be worth topping up your weekly shop with a few items that will keep such as toilet roll, tins or even buying the odd gift early in the year to put away ready for Christmas or a Birthday if it means you’ll be able to save extra money overall.

Finally keep your eyes peeled for other big brands offeringf codes including Vodafone promtional code and Currys discount codes
